Dr. Roger Stupp is an internationally renowned medical oncologist and a leading authority on primary and metastatic brain cancer who has established temozolomide and radiation in 2004, and Tumor Treating Fields in 2016 as the first line treatment of glioblastoma. Jointly with Monika Hegi, PhD (University of Lausanne) they identified MGMT as a predictive factor for benefit from temozolomide. More recent work
focuses on opening the blood-brain barrier with ultrasound (with Adam Sonabend, MD) allowing the use of novel cancer drugs early in the disease course. Surrounded by a large team of top-notch researchers of the Malnati Brain Tumor Institute at Northwestern University in Chicago he and team are investigating are pushing the boundaries by combining latest diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, novel drugs and compounds and innovative trial designs to improve outcome for patients suffering from brain tumors.
